Visual Distortions and Hallucinations in Schizophrenia

Researchers of this article aim to explain symptoms of visual hallucinations and visual distortions in schizophrenia that are under-studied in order to provide information for future mechanisms and targeted therapeutic interventions. Because visual distortion and visual hallucination symptoms are not widely seen in current literature, the researchers offer current data of both visual hallucinations and distortions in schizophrenia, as well as possible cortical mechanisms and retinal shifts that could contribute to visual hallucinations, among other findings to give information and context on the phenomenology and neurobiology of visual hallucinations and distortions of the disorder.
